The Alpine steering is "better" than the Tigers, in that you
can turn the wheel all the way to full lock, and the car will
happily move about in the direction of your wishes. But then
the "precision" is hampered by the initial characteristics of
the recirculating-ball mechanism, and then compounded by the
over-the-bellhousing nightmare.

Oh if only someone would design and build a new front crossmember
that would properly use rack-and-pinion steering in both the
Tiger and the Alpine!
