You can run a any series distributor on any series car and it will work
fine. The problem is in trying to get an early series distributor with
the block for the tachometer drive to work on a series V engine. The
block with the tachometer drive is too long, so the dog driver on the
distributor is 3/8" short of the drive shaft. I have considered milling
down the early series tachometer block or making a 3/8" spacer from
another driver dog. If anyone has any experience in doing this
adaptation, I would love to hear from them. Rick, at Sunbeam
Specialties, thinks he heard of a guy down in the central valley of
California that has accomplished this feat.
