Other than the fastback Alpine GT automatics and some Hunters (all AFTER
the Series V), I haven't read of any other Rootes cars using the 3.7 diff.
Could you name some other sources?

I've found that acceleration with a 3.7 is not great, but very acceptable
with the extra torque of a 1725cc. I took top Alpine time at the SUNI I
autocross running the 3.7, so it can't be too bad. Freeway cruising seemed
much more relaxed, despite only a 4 percent difference in RPM's from the
3.89.

The 4.22's are just too low if you run modern, lower profile tires. Sure,
acceleration is snappy, but if you don't have an OD, which are VERY rare in
the U.S., then any extended freeway driving is out of the question.
