I now have had two people tell me that they think the idiot light wire
is a "two-way" wire and that upon charging it receives power, which
excites the alternator, and immediately thereafter (pardon my legal-ease)
sends power to turn off the light. When I was first told this, I assumed
the person was just, well, an idiot. Now, I don't know, especially since
the light simulator malfunctioned and I removed it (and taped up the
alternator's lead for the light). Although, it is my recollection that
even when the light was working I still needed a blip to get the
alternator going -- it just never needed the second blip to bring it
down. This weekend I will install my new simulator and see what happens.
