I received the following in the mail, and was asked to post it here.
If I hadn't already committed to the Chattanooga show on the same
weekend, I'd be going.

Sunbeam Owners of the South
Dear Southern Sunbeam Owner:
As you are probably aware, the majority of Sunbeam owners are on the West and Northeast coasts. For those owners in the North, they can only enjoy their cars during the summer months. That and other considerations is why the Tigers East/Alpines East United is held then. Fortunately for us that is not the case down here. We don't know how you feel, but we don't enjoy having to drive a thousand miles or more, in a very hot car, to have fun and socialize with other owners. Although the TE/AE United meetings are great fun and should not be missed if you can make it, but by the time you drive one or more days to and from the event then spend three or four days at the meeting, a week of vacation has been spent -- not to mention the money!
Since the South presently has no representation nor any events, some of these owners have suggested having our own annual get-together during the winter. What we are proposing, to begin with, is a weekend event. This event would be casual and fun with the emphasis on FUN; and could include, although not be limited to, picnics, parts swaps, siteseeing convoys, socializing and making plans for future activities.
The Southern members of Tigers East/Alpines East and the California Association of Tiger Owners invite you to join us in our first annual Sunbeam Round-up. This event will be held at Gulf Shores, Alabama, November 4-5 and will be a fun-filled weekend happening.
Activities will include a parts swap, un-judged car show, catered picnic, siteseeing convoys, hospitality room, hot dogs on the beach, socializing and making plans for future Round-ups. Our headquarters will be at the Hampton Inn (who is giving us great rates) at Orange Beach.
Our Northern and Western Members will find many attractions at Gulf Shores before and after our event. Some of these include but are not limited to: golf (more than 10 courses in area), deep sea and fresh water fishing, good beach conditions (water still warm), sunset cruises, sailing, excellent seafood, and much much more. For the ladies there are many antique shops and a large factory outlet mall (over 100 stores).
The registration fee includes all of the above activities except as noted on the registration form.
Hotel reservations:
Special rates have been negotiated for the first 30 room reservations at $42 for up to 4 in a room. Contact the Hampton Inn directly at 22988 Perdido Beach Blvd., Orange Beach, AL, 36561 or call 1-800-981-6242. You must mention the Sunbeam Round-up for these rates.
