Is the crankshaft in the center?

OK, here is another dumb question. I can't just look for myself because all my
Alpines and Tigers are motorless.

It looks like for both the Alpine and the Tiger the pinion is offset from the
center of the car (toward the passenger side). From the layout of the
driveshaft tunnel it appears that the crank and transmission mainshaft center
lines are not offset but instead in the center of the car. This means that the
driveshaft has to angle from center toward the passenger side. Is this
correct? I centered the engine in the pintopine then I noticed the pinion
offset. I need an answer to this before I have the driveshaft built.
