I have looked in my SAOC book with the list of engine and body numbers.
Unfortunately, I have not come up with your numbers. You did not mention
your VIN number or your year car. When ALpines were new, the engine
number matched the VIN number. When I first looked at mine I had trouble
reading one of the numbers stamped on the block, but with the VIN number
I realized they were the same and what the one blurred number was.
As to the list, none of the Rootes blocks listed started with an "N", but
did start with A, B, LG, LH, and L. Alpine blocks started with
A90 (Series I), B91 (Series II), B92 (Series III), B93 (Series III.5),
B94 (Series IV), and B95 (Series V).
On Series I and II cars, you may also find the number stamped on the
bodywork. (That's what the book says, I have no idea where).
If you get anymore information let us know.
