The Chassis number you gave me would indicate a very late 1962 or early 1963 car
so if it was going to be used for racing it would have been the 1963 season.
Only one problem no overdrive? all the racing cars had overdrive which were
adapted for use on all forward gears. The team used to cheat a bit, they fitted
aluminium doors, boot and bonnets to make the car lighter. What are yours made
of?
Thinking out aloud, could it have been a car intended for the team but not used
due to the pending model change, but that would not explain the missing
overdrive, but they raced at Sebring and Le Mans in a Series 2 in 1963.
Australia had its own Rootes factory did they do any racing themselves locally?
Lots of questions but no answers, I will have to think about it.
Will get back to you.
Regards
Chris.
