Radios

When I first bought my car, I built a center counsol for a radio and
additional guages for my Alpine and put speakers in the kickpanels. Well,
now that I have rebuilt the car I eliminated the radio (and the extra
guages) in favor of the cleaner look. But, from time to time a radio
would be nice. I was thinking about some sort of household portable
radio, i.e., a "boom box". Is there some way to power such a radio
without some converter that inserts into the cigarette lighter -- which I
do not have? I guess I could make a portable radio out of an auto 12 volt
radio and two speakers and wire in a plug behind the dash. But I figure
it would be cumbersome and it would be better to use one already built to
be portable.

Jay.
