***** NOTES from Jay Laifman (JLAIFMAN (at) PNM) at 12/9/95 9:27a
I am using the solid state fuel pump from Pegasus. I mounted it on one
of the cross-members under the car, along the fuel pipe line -- so it
could be as low as possible, but still protected. It is also possible
that your "starving" is really over carberation.

I don't think the problem is over carberation.. The engine just cut out
while I was driving ( accelerating in third gear ) and at first I thought
the throttle linkage had broken. But I let the car coast in gear for about
four or five seconds and then it sputtered and came back to life. It
reminded me of a another time when the fuel pump gave up, but this one is
new. So I think before I put out the money for an electric fuel pump I'm
going to pull the balance pipe and see if it's full of crud and maybe
blocking the fuel flow. I was real happy when I pulled this engine apart
last summer because everything was standard, it appeared that this engine
had never been touched. I guess the last owner was right when he told me
that the miles were low on this engine. Any way it's really a runner I
think it could take more carberation than it presently has maybe dual
dcoe's ( not ).
