There are two support brackets that most people do not put on when they do
this mainifold swap. Did you put these on?

You might also check to see that the intake manifold is cinched up tight.
I had the same problem with my SIII-- the car would drive fine, then sputter
and almost die. After pulling over and sitting for a moment (with much
throttling), the car would mysteriously return to normal.
