See, I knew Dick would come through. For my car I can confirm that I have
everything that Dick mentioned, including the "possible" differences
(head, solenoid, fine spline clutch/trans). As to the temp guage, mine
does not have numbers. It has a continuous band where the cold side has a
small white box (no green - unless it is faded from green) and the hot
side has a small red box, with the center portion of the band being
black, like the rest of the guage.
As to the head, I can confirm that I have the square sparkplug access
holes and that the inlet size is not reduced. The Holbay head I now have
on the car (also with square holes) did have the reduced inlet size. I
read somewhere -- probably a SAOC publication -- that Holbay reduced the
size to make the car more driveable at the lower end with all that
carberation. When we put mine together, we opened up the input holes and
instead changed the jets to solve the problem.
