Subject: Brake servo rebuild

I'm tearing apart an old brake servo, does anyone have a good
method to remove the "plug" at the end of the small bore? This
one is kinda stuck.

***** NOTES from Jay Laifman (JLAIFMAN (at) PNM) at 2/1/96 1:21p
Good luck. Once I got mine out the walls were to scortched to rebuild.
I ended up buying the servo from Victoria British. I bought it from the
because it was the "kit" and the Sunbeam Specialities version was not the
kit but was more expensive. I later found out that the Sunbeam
Specialites version had more boost. My recollection is that the VB one
was 1.9:1, the SS one was 2.3:1, while the stock is closer to 3:1. I
wrote to Lockheed. They wrote back, in a letter signed by two people,
advising me that the correct servo was yet another. It turns out that the
one they suggested was/is used for an early Jaguar application and runs
almost twice as much money. Its boost was closer to the stock numbers.

I could not return the VB one. For future reference, the kit portion is
useless. I also have been told by more than one person (Sunbeam and
Lotus people) to drop the servo entirely and install a smaller bore master
brake pedal.
