It has been my experience in owning and restoring a number of Tigers
that at least two jacks were used in Tigers. There is a also third version
which looks like the other two. The Mk 1 had the shortest of the three and
the ones I have seen have all been black. The Mk 1A and Mk II had a slightly
longer jack which was also painted black. The third jack is the longest,
looks very much like the others except that it was painted grey and the arm
that goes into the body socket was shorter than the others and was
positioned at a different point. I do not know for sure if this last type
came out of an Alpine or some other Rootes car. Functionally I do not think
it makes a whole lot of difference except for concours cars OR if you want
to use the stock clips in the trunk pan to secure the jack. The trunk clip
locations are different in a MK 1 vs. MK1A and MK II. You can allways drill
more holes in the trunk pan to make any one of the three work but I
generally do not like doing that. This seems unusual but I guess Rootes had
some reason they changed. At least this has been the consistant pattern on
the cars I've seen.
