Mexico Lobster Run

By my reckoning, it's been four days since any mail has been posted to this
list. Or, did I fail to pay my dues or something?

So- this is a test to see if anything is getting through.

San Diego Sunbeam Owners Group Lobster Run

On Sunday 11 February, 8 Alpines, an Avanti (remember them?), and a Chevy
pick-m-up met at the predetermined rendezvous. We consolidated the 17 people
into 7 Alpines and the chase truck for our raid on the southernmost NAFTA
member.

Our first stop in Mexico was at the legendary Rosarito Beach Hotel for
libations. We then travelled down the coastal road to Kilometro 43 where we
found the quaint village known as Puerto Nuevo. Seventeen of us invaded
Ortega's Original restaurant for our feast.

Everyone ordered as they pleased, so I can't comment on other choices, but no
one was unhappy with their meal. My selection was the seafood combo for
$10.95US. What I got for that was: a bowl of tortilla soup, 1 small lobster,
2 shrimp, 1 calimari steak, 1 fish filet, 1 beer, rice, beans, tortillas,
chips, and salsa. For the same price Joan had a salad, a margarita, Camarones
Papagayo (shrimp stuffed with lobster and bacon), rice, beans, tortillas,
chips, and salsa. The extra beers and margaritas added to the price.

For the record, the convoy consisted of 2 red SV (both top down), 2 white
SIV (one top up, top down on the off side steerer), 2 blue (SII fintail top
up, Talbot top down), and a black SV (top up). Oh, and a white Chevy pickup
- steel roof). No mechanical problems were reported and the only distress
was the elevated temp guages during the 40 minute wait at the border crossing
back into the US. The ones left back in the parking lot were a red SV and
the white Studebaker.

Those were the barebones details - you hadda be there to understand the other
shenanigans that transpired.

Next lobster run? Probably in November.
