>Thanks for the response - I guess I should have made it clearere where the car was. It's in Victoria, BC Canada (Vancouver Island) - a long way from your turf. Unless somebody went for one helluva joy-ride in it I doubt if it's from anywhere down your way.

>All I can tell you about it is from a superficial perusal. It has good chrome - a pretty decent sort of aqua blue paint job - beaten up seats - a raggety rag-top - it has Series lV emblems but 1725cc emblems as well so I assume it's been upgraded from the 1592cc - gear knob is definitely for all syncro - I tried very hard to get the hood open - the pull latch appears to function OK but nothing happens (had the same problem with the one I just sold and had to butcher the release mechanism on top of the firewall to avoid similar lock-up problems. It's also possible this abandoned one has a secondary locking mechanism with a release god knows where. The only way I can think of to open the hood is the 'hard way' with a pry bar between the hood and front sill - but it's a good tight fit and would mess up the paint job not to mention the sheet metal - and since it's not my car anyway I can't do that.

>As my daughter referred to it - it's truly a Nowhere Alpine! I haven't looked at it for a couple of weeks - it may be gone by now if the property owners found a way to dispose of it.

>By the way you said you only just saw my message - I've been trying to get to the Alpine current postings but can't find them - I can find the archived messages up to January but not anything since. Obviously there is something I don't know about surfing. Can you point me in the right direction on the WEB?
