I previously mentioned that there was a difference between servos
available from Sunbeam Specialties and Victoria British, but I wasn't sure
on the numbers. Well, I found the information:
Servo # Boost Ratio
SS LR17792 2.30:1
VB LR17818 1.90:1
Lockheed LR18221 3.00:1
The Lockheed number is the one Lockheed told me was the "recommended
equivalent" for the original 7 inch servo. The instructions that came
with my servo indicated that the 3:1 servo is suggested for all XK
Jaguars, Austin Healey 3000, Lotus Elan Coupe, and MGC. It lists the SS
one for Alpine Series II (no other Alpines shown), Sunbeam Rapier, TR4,
Cortina GT and Lotus, and Volvo P1800. It lists the VB one for
Sprite/Midget, Mini, MGA, Imp, Lotus Elan conv., and Spitfire.
So now you know.
