I spotted a 61 Alpine for sale yesterday. I talked to the owner
and he was willing to part with it for about $500. That's the
good news. The engine and transmission have been replaced with
a Pinto setup. The floorpans and seat bases are completely rusted
out (does this mean the rocker panels are shot too?) The interior
is mostly missing; there's no dashboard, door panels, etc. It
has wire wheels and most (but not all) the exterior trim.
It would take some work just to make it driveable. I don't see
it ever returning to stock condition, but it would at least
look like an Alpine.
So tell me, should I get the car or am I just nuts?
