This is an excerpt from todays Press Democrat concerning rising gas prices
in California...
California drivers this spring are beginning to pay more to use "the world's
cleanest gasoline."
By June 1, all gasoline sold in California must meet the state's new
cleaner-burning requirements. Refineries have retooled and are now
beginning to ship the new brew to gas stations. The refineries charge the
stations more and the stations pass the increase along to the drivers.
"Please explain to people that we're not just raising the prices to get more
profit," said Ellen Allen, manager of Santa Rosa Exxon at Coddingtown.
"When we're charged more to buy the gas, we raise our prices. It's that
simple."
Depending on who you talk to, cleaner gas will eventually add anywhere from
15 cents to 30 cents per gallon in California.
"Predicting where this will all level off is impossible," said Allan Hirsch,
spokesman for the State Air Resources Board which regulates the petroleum
industry.
"This market is so complex and responds to so many factors that you just
can't accurately forecast what will happen," Hirsch said.

Wonderful, higher gas prices and the potential of damaged fuel systems. I
suppose clean air is worth it(?)
