Several items of discussion have passed through - none of which I had enough
information to really shed detailed light on - so this is sort of a potpourri
comment on several of them.

Citgo gasoline in California? - check the pumps at your local 7/11. Odds are
. . .

Tiger front end shimmy - cheap check: (1) lug nuts tight? (2) does tire
pressure hold? My last Tiger had an intermittent leak that would sometimes
cause a violent front end shake but never go flat. (3) alignment shims in
place? They fell out on my wife's Riviera, the loss only noticeable when you
really, really needed control. (4) Universal joints. Yeah, I know, they're
at the back of the car - BUT - when they bind up it can feel like the the
front end is shot (happened on a Mustang and a Chevy pickmup).

Alpine transmission lube - my vote is for 30 weight NON detergent oil. If
you drive it hard, the expensive detergent stuff foams up and makes it damned
hard to shift when hot.

Electrolysis - John (frodo4) had it right - the engine is slowly dissolving.
We can't stop it, just try to slow it down. In areas with high mineral
content in the public water supply (Southern California comes to mind), never
ever put tap water in your radiator. A mix of antifreeze and distilled water
seems to work best. A mention was made of zinc plates used in boats to
isolate the electrolytic action. I've always wondered if use of this
sacrificial anode wouldn't be useful in automotive applications but have
never seen it done.

Tech tips and newsletters - many thanks to Terry for starting this dialogue
as I think it helps clear the air on what has been to many an ethical
quandary. Or, maybe not. . .
