Subject: caliper bolt, corroded brake cilinders

Hi Alpiners,

I got some good news, the caliper bolt has finally given up the ghost
and has a splitting headache now !
What we did (our local Ford garage included) was drilling a small hole
through the steering linkage down to the bolt and then use penetration
oil to get to the thread.
Finally heat and a chisel did the rest it cost us a whole morning.
The bolt was badly corroded very near the bolt head apperantly because
salt entered there as there wasn't any flat washer on it but only one
of those thin spring rings which tend to rust away easily.

Another thing after taking the caliper apart I found some very rusty
cilinders.
A while ago I heared somebody talk about rustfree steel cilinders where can
I get those ?
Help is greatly appreciated !

Regards, Bert
