While it is true about the 2.0L racing heritage I doubt very much that any
performance potential was lost in the increase in displacement to 2.3L. It
does make sense that the 2.3L may not rev quite as good as the 2.0L but I've
talked to folks who have claimed to rev their 2.3L motor in excess of
8000RPM with essentially stock bottom ends. Sounds like it should do just fine.

BTW, Despite the similarity in the appearence between the 2.0 and 2.3 not
much interchanges between the two motors from what I've been able to learn.

The old Pinto/Capri 4spd box may have some hope for the performance minded.
Apparently "Club" racers in England use the 2.0L/4spd combo. Unfotunately,
I'm not positive if this is the standard pinto box or not. Their is an
outfit in England who offers all sorts of trick stuff for the "Club" style
box including 5spd conversion kits and Aluminum cases. I've got their
catalog somewhere but I can't remember their name right now. I considered
going that route until the T5 became available to me.
