Series II Alpine for Sale - Owner Restoration now 4 years old. I'm not a pro,
but I did a good job! Car runs great, (I did engine, transmission, suspension
in 1987-88 and drive it every day it's not raining and I don't have to go more
than 200 miles), looks great (I painted myself in 1991 with Forest Green Acrylic
Lacquer after stripping entire car to bare metal, priming and sealing), and has
been dependable (in a British sort of way). There was some old body work that
had to be un-done, and then re-done (again, I did it!) and there's no cracking,
crazing, orange-peel, etc. (My dog recently jumped onto the trunk after the
neighbor's cat; damn animal!). The left rear wing had a small patch of rust
that I cut out and welded a piece of metal over; the metal came from my old
Mustang's trunk lid. No sign of bubble or rust after 5 years of use. I put a
new convertible top on in 1995, and right now am in the middle of replacing all
the interior panels. I have the orignal seats but replaced them with buckets
from my '66 'Stang. They are more comfortable, though you loose 2-3 inches of
headroom (I never use the top anyway). I also just recently replaced the
exhaust system with the current Stainless steel product available. I am
divorcing and need to liquidate some assets. I'm asking $6000 which sounds a
little high, but it is a very solid car, rust-free and holds too many old
memories to let it go for (much) less. My friends think I'm crazy, but you
gotta do what you gotta do.
