You all are right about Lucas suppling ammeters for our cars. Smiths Industries did also under the Jaeger name. I purchased one from CAT in the late 70's for $32. Its almost an exact copy of the Lucas unit except the word AMPS is smaller and British Jaeger replaces Lucas, it also has a plastic case.
