I've just subscribed to the mailing list and enjoy the interesting advice and conversation. Though I'm not the owner of an Alpine (yet), I will probably be looking for a restorable hulk. Bear with as I ask two, probably elementary questions: 1) In terms of literature, can anyone recommend a decent history of Sunbeam/ Rootes which details the Alpine series? Something similar to the readily available books on Triumph and MG is what I'm speaking about, even if its a general purpose British sports car book. I'm interested in something that chronicles the development of the Alpine, production years, differences in the series, etc. the basic background info. 2) In a related question, in what respects does a '69 2dr. hardtop Alpine from the Chrysler era differ from the earlier models? Good points, if any, bad points? While apparently a less desirable auto, $400 for a garaged, non-running, good body, needs brake overhaul, example seems reasonable.
