Window Channel Help

In redoing my door's rear window channel, I originally used the felt tape
that Victoria British sells. Its about 2 inches wide, with a sticky back
and a smooth felt front. I had nothing but trouble trying to get this 2
foot long piece of sticky tape into the channel without it sticking to the
sides, top, edges or fingers. So, I ended up doing a few short pieces at
a time. Anyway, one side rolled up on itself. So, I spent the extra
money and got the Sunbeam Specialties material, which needs to be glued
in, and is not felt, but more like a stiff short brush. I put it in and
it was too tight for my window. In fact, I ended up pulling the window
out of the 30 year old lower channel glue/rubber. Does anyone have any
suggestions on how to do this right?

Thanks.

Jay
