Ive been monitering discussions on the tiger channel regarding HIPO rears.
I have read and have also been told that D. Spencer and or other people in
the early to mid 60's manufactured and sold limited slip alpine axles for
road racing. I am attempting a reasonable faximile of a vintage alpine road
racer, so I would like to know if any of you out there have any info on what
axle was used as well as its availability.
Here tell it was some form of a Dana, but not a 44.
Your assistance is very appreciated!

I've heard the 8" called junk but compared to what? A 9" no doubt. From
what I"ve heard the Dana is definitely stronger than a 8". Is the 8"
enough for a big torque and harsh treatment? I don't think so. If they
didn't blow up too often it might be a cheaper and lighter alternative to
the 9".
