Humber/Intro

Greetings all!

Glad to be on the Alpines list! My name is William West, although I tend to
go by Will, and I am here because I am the proud new owner of a 1959 Humber
Super Snipe and am looking for information, sundry and diverse, on this old
piece of British Steel. I also own a '67 Jag 420 (a constant source of
mysterious happenings and auto repair enigmas) and a 1957 VW Beetle (which is
my daily driver.)

First question to all you restoration experts (forgive me if this is
redundant, because I am not sure that my initial message got through to the
list or not...) The vinyl(?) covering on the dash of the Humber is cracked
beyond the ability of those patch kits to repair. Is there a way to rewrap
the dash? Is this something that some restoration guy gets paid a great deal
of gold to do? Or do I need to start a Snipe dash search?

Also, does anyone know if Chrysler UK has maintained any sort of surplus parts
stash for the Humbers? Chrysler did buy out Rootes, did they not? You see, I
am also in need of a windshield to finish off the exterior restoration of the
Humber. Are there any good sources for parts that I need to be made aware of?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Will
