Rootes/Chrysler Service Bulletin: Dated 8/26/66. Marked "URGENT"

The bulletin advises rerouting the rear hose over the engine "on all stock
(Alpine V) cars....as soon as possible", as shown in a drawing, "in order to
prevent fouling and possible loss of oil." Detailed sketches are also
included of the brackets needed to secure it in place.

It appears that the change was then incorporated into new Series V's,
apparently too late for the various photos you mentioned.

BTW, the four Series V's I've owned all had the "over the top" oil hose, with
mounting brackets like the ones shown in the drawings.
