I had an imtermittent blinking problem too. The socket into which you set
the bulb must be grounded.
Now one way is to screw through the frame of the blinker assembly into the
body of the car. This offers a fresh ground between the blinker and the body.
However...
Sometimes the problem is very minute and the socket itself is no longer
grounded to the frame of the blinker assembly. Corrosion. A workable
solution is to set a very small screw into the edge of the socket where it
obviously should be touching the blinker assembly. When you look at the
hole where the bulb goes in you will see the socket is pressed into place
and there is a distinct line. A very small screw will not get in the way of
the bulb.
Do both while you are at it.
