It was the starter. When I took it out, I found it hard to turn in places. When
I tried to bench test it, it wouldn't go. I put in the old starter, and the car
started right up. I checked the battery while the car was running, and it showed
13.7 volts, 12.4 when stopped. After driving the car to get it good and warm, I
stopped it, and it started right up. So, hopefully, my starting troubles are
over.
Thanks to all that helped with tips, I've filed all the advice away for future
reference!
BTW Are Lucas starters really that bad? Mine had a manufacture date of 1992, and
the car was off the road for 2 years.
