I rebuilt my own 10 yrs ago and its still going fine. The trick is to 
be able to recognize if the hydrauilic cylinder is too far gone. Apart 
from that lots of care and keep everything very clean, and follow the 
directions carefully. Be sure that you have the right kit, there are (I 
believe) 3 different boosters out there.
But, are you sure you need it. How are the brakes. The idle will rise 
on brake application momentarily, but not the whole time the brakes are 
applied. Also if the idle mixture is off this may be accentuated.
