I think it is a good idea to put together a list of Serial numbers of cars
with a SB in the code. I think Scott is correct. My SB car is a late Series
II. If anyone else has a SB Alpine please send the serial number to me. I
will post a list when I get some more numbers. Tom

I don't know the exact date, but right around late '62 / early '63 is when the
federal law for sealed beam headlamps went into effect in America (Canada
too?)
I can see the reasoning behind stamping SB on all cars destined for America -
perhaps it was a requirement for awhile in order to legally import the cars???
Someone said they do not have SB on their V; by 1966 / 1967 most of the world
had adopted sealed beam headlamps and perhaps that is why SB no longer shows
up?
Can any of our non-Alpine Rootes vehicle owners substantiate the theory?
Are there any 1963 Hillmans out there with SB?
