I am pretty sure that all Rootes cars ID numbers of the 50's started with an
A, All Rootes cars ID numbers of the 60's started with an B. Can anyone

My late SII also has the mysterious "SB" at the end (9119860 OD LRX SB). I
have long wondered what this means. In addition, there is a "B" stamped at
the upper left on the spec plate that I can no longer read because it is
rubbed off. Does anyone know where I can get a copy of what the SII spec
plate should look like? For anyone's curiosity, the engine number is also
9119860 OD LRX, the paint code is 1, and the body number (as best I can tell
through the thick paint) is SAL 019342. I have postponed putting the car in
the registry 'till I can be sure of this last number. Does it make sense?
And what about that "B?" BTW, the only "special" thing I can tell about the
body is that it has a chrome trim swash down the side that I have not seen
on other alpines.
