Just found an ad in the Seattle PI stating, "'51 Riley, lots of parts, $500".
With great expectations and a certain thrill in my voice, I called...I asked
about the car and was told a horrific tale. Evidently the car was purchased
as a restoration piece. When the owner of the vehicle couldn't find anyone to
remake the wood interior he became frustrated and, (Ok, everyone take a deep
breath...) chopped the top off of it with plans to turn it into a street
rod...
He welded in tubular steel and performed a few more pernicious deeds before he
gave up and gave it to the folks who now own the car.
I about cried.
