This is absolutely true, but early overdrive units suffer from oil frothing
and leakage out the rear seals under certain conditions. The fix as
implimented on later model O/D units was a pressure balance hose that
connects the planetary section to the main case. This is a modification
that can be made to early units as well, and will make them every bit as
good as the later units.

NOTE: Late model gearboxes use a different O/D adapter, because allsynch
transmitions have a different tail section. Late model gearboxes must be
used with late model adapters or severe oil leakage will result.
