Alpine info.

Hi, my name is John D'Agostino, I'm on the British car list. I looked
at a 68 Alpine over the weekend and could use some advice. The car is
fairly complete, the doors, rockers, floors, and trunk are solid. There
is a hole in the lower front fender near the drivers door, same in back.
The right front fender and valence need some repair also. Looks like a
poor repair of a minor accident. The battery box is bad, and it needs
new carpets, probably a top as well. The drive train is intact and the
owner claims it runs fine (the battery was out) and it will need a few
other odds and ends. I'm mostly concerned with the body and rust, the
other items can be fixed later. He is asking 1650.00 for it.
Any thoughts on what to look for specifically? I plan on making a driver
out of it, but I want something solid. Should I keep looking? Is 68 a
good year for Alpines? Are parts like bumpers, bezels, lenses etc available?

Thanks in advance.
