I have contemplated a V6 changeover for an Alpine using the GM 2.8 litre
engine as used by the fwd X cars (Chev citation etc.) and J cars. but using
the engine as installed in the rwd Camaro and S10 pickups. I have some
experience with this engine as my daughter has a Buick Skylark (fwd) with
this engine. I find that it is a very smooth and quite powerful
powerplant. I have heard somewhat scary tales of bad bottom ends but
nothing specific. Has anyone tried this? Is it possible to fit the
transmission. I believe that there would be room for the engine as it is a
fairly compact unit. Can anyone offer any information?
