I guess its my turn.
I am a 32 year old engineering school graduate (UC Berkeley 89 BSME) who
never did any engineering other than financial work in the electric power and
natural gas industry. I am currently living in Bloomfield NJ after being
suckered to come out from Venice Beach, CA and work for some supposed
hot-shot NJ power company. I did and got fired 5 months later. Not to worry
I like the greater NYC area (and would like to find an apt in Manhattan if
you people have any leads) I now working as an independent consultant. I
bought my first Alpine back in 1984 when I was a student for $600 from a
Maltese mechanic in South San Francisco. Stupid me ran it without an air
cleaner for about a year before it blew a ring and got towed away with about
$800 worth of parking tickets. Alas, the car was not restorable anyway as
the body suffered from some seriously bad bondo-work. It was ugly but great
fun and at $50 per month well worth the investment.
Later I bought my second Alpine when I just got a divorce in 1994 and let my
ex have our only car: a 1990 Audi 90 20-valve quattro. I was looking around
for an early-70s ford Bronco to buy when I noticed my current car in the SJ
Mercury news. I did not want an Alpine as my only car but had to see it
anyway. It was my only car until I bought a 1994 Audi 90 sport quattro about
a year later.
I first monitored this list about a year ago and have really enjoyed it. In
fact, I keep aol account only to monitor this list because I'm always too
busy to transfer to my netcom account.
Happy Holidays to you all!
