Hello all,
My name is Barb, I work for the University of Iowa in the Administrative Data
Processing department. My husband, Bob, also works for the University at the
Chilled Water Plant (they air condition the University). We have two kids,
ages, 9 and 5.
Three years ago,when I was 35 (going through a mid 30's crisis?) I decided
I just had to have a little red convertible.
Seeing how much Bob loves his British motorcycles-(the challenges of Lucas?)-
he has an 850 Norton Commando and is in the process of building a 750 Commando-
I just knew it had to be British. I looked at the run of the mill MG's,
Triumphs...too common...found the basketcase of my dreams-'65 Series IV, no
rust, all there just in a few boxes. Fortunately Bob loves basketcases. By the
next summer we had it up and running with just a couple of pieces left over,
we'll figure out where they go eventually. We rebuilt the engine last winter
so it should be able to go for a long time. We also had the 'virtually
impossible to find parts for' automatic transmission gone through. Someday
I'll get it painted the proper Carnival Red.
For now we just like being able to cruise around in it as much as possible.
Sure wish the summers lasted longer here in the Midwest. As it is the
Alpine is tucked away in a cozy heated garage until spring.
We have been on this list for a couple of years now and are very happy to
have it and the web page available. Being the only Alpine in our area, it
gets lonely.
