Well, I've got my car running again now that I have the overdrive
transmission in. The overdrive part works fine. And, yesterday, the
gearbox worked fine. Now, I can't get it into 4th. It won't go it
whether the car is running or off, after putting it into 1, 2, 3 or R
first, or whether I match the speeds perfectly. As I pull down towards
4th, the lever does begin in through the gate and then just stops. Any
thoughts? Anyone experience this problem and have it fixed? Could it be
something with the alignment of the selector? I sure hope it is nothing
internal. If it was just a bad synchro, I should still be able to shift
it when it is stopped, or by matching speeds.
I just called John Roseby who rebuilt it. He had no thoughts just now,
other than whenever he sends out a gear box, the selector works fine on
the bench. He will be in Incline Village near Reno in March. But,
practically, he might as well still be in England. He will be visiting
Carl Christenson.
