Chris,
there is a pressure sensitive switch at the junction of the brake lines
under the bonnet. Mine refused to switch on, yours is probably stuck on.
They screw out, but watch out for the brake fluid which will come. They're
probably not repairable but I got a second hand one and I think there are
new ones.
