Black/red does look pretty good. That's (sort of) the color combo used on an
earlier non-stock restoration(s?) of the S.II T-pine.
I think what you called "ribs" (.... where joined.) is known as piping. Most
of the Sunbeam parts suppliers can provide their interior kits with contrasting
piping.
