Seems like the vinyl dyes are now good enough that you could install whatever
color suits you, enjoy it, then dye it to Sunbeam black if you or a subsequent
owner ever want to return it to a stock scheme. Has anyone had good/bad
experiences with the newer dyes? My interest is in going to black; I can
imagine that changing from black would still be tough.
With all the debate over what are and are not YUK color combinations, I'm
almost afraid to admit that the T-pine is currently black body, white tops
(both hard and soft), and RED/WHITE TWO-TONE interior (as in late '50s Detroit
iron). While not a combination I would choose, it really does look better than
it must sound in print (must be the fins). However, when the body color is
returned to the original Wedgwood blue later this year, the two-tone interior
will have to go before someone gets hurt.
