Mike and Alpines,
There mas a thread a while back "8 months?" on different Alpine exhaust
systems that worked.
I'll drop down my two cents (hear two cents dropping).
On my 61, I had to do get an exhaust system in real quick "overnight"
for a practice
road racing session that had noise limits.
I drove down to the local specialty muffler shop, and said set her up.
We talked about different options and weighed noise versus restriction,
and I ended
up putting in a 28 inch dynomax glass pack muffler.
They replaced all of my plumbing from the Y box back, and the glasspack
is installed behind the rear axle, and fits real nice.
Along with mandrel bent 1.75 inch tubing and a nice looking chrome tip,
the whole ordeal only set me back about $130.
I opted for aluminized steel as opposed to stainless due to cost.
Before the muffler guy was done, we started the motor "on the rack" and
he asked me if I felt I needed a resonator, I said I liked the poppy
sound so we put the car back down.
It's pretty loud, and maybe could have used the resonator, but hey I can
always put one on right?
I feel that for the money, I did the best thing, and I have been
thrilled with the performance.
Oh, and my nieghbors just love the crisp sound too.
