The ad didn't say whether the engines might be from a rear-wheel
drive (like the Ford Ranger) or the less useful front-wheel
drive cars. So, I sent for details and just got back a note
that they want to sell the engines in lots of 100 or more...
They didn't say out of what vehicles, but I bet Tauruses and Sables.
The Sable (I've been looking at my wife's Sable...) uses a transversly
mounted 3.0 engine, but they used the space at both ends of the
engine for thermostat mounting and other stuff -- probably wouldn't
work, but I'd like to hear from someone who knows what they're
talking about.

Also, a Ford dealer told me that the 3.0 engines (out of Ford Ranger)
are completely different than the old 2.8 engines. I haven't
personally seen a 2.8 (or a Mustang II) in years, but the 3.0 and 4.0
engines are both OHV 60-degree V6s so might fit (the 4.0 looks kinda
tall). I wonder if anyone has previously thought of using an
engine out of a Ford Ranger (I think they delivered the 3.0 from
'88-present)? The Ford Ranger 3.0 makes about 142 HP. The 4.0L
makes 160 HP.
