Practical Classics Magazine here in the UK ran a couple of articles about
the danger of add-on whitewall trims. As the tyre flexes in normal use, the
trim is held stationary by the wheel and causes friction on the tyre-wall,
and eventually- BANG!!
If I remember right, the solution is to use plenty of grease between the trims
and the side-wall. Mercedes , I think, were the company to point this out.
This is all from memory. I'll dig out the article if you listers want.
BTW. I've had two Horizons. they were real dogs, with terrible gearbox action
and lots of rust. Of course they won European Car of The Year.!!
