Bert asks when Pebble Beach is scheduled - and whether any Sunbeams will be
entered.
The Concours D'Elegance is on Sunday August 17th. So far as I know, the only
Sunbeam ever entered was the Bill Van Velkenburg Harrington Tiger (2nd place
winner) a couple of years ago. This is truly a high ticket event and not
many Sunbeams fit into that lofty territory unless we were to be the featured
mark of a given year - a highly improbable happenstance. Featured this year
is Aston Martin and steam powered cars, with special classes for Oldsmobile
and cars with Tom Tjaarda coachwork (no, I don't have a clue who he is or
what he did).
Of more interest to Sunbeamers, and a lot more exciting, will be the nearby
Monterey Historic races on August 15-17. I believe there are 4 Tigers and 3
Alpines hoping to get on the grid. The feature marque this year is Cobra and
a Carroll Shelby honor program.
If you have some spare cash, auctions are scheduled during the week by Rick
Cole, Christie's, and World Classics.

P.S. to Bert
Joan and I will be in Amsterdam on 12th and 13th of September, where we will
rent a car to explore western Europe for a couple weeks. Any tips on places
to go or avoid?
