That buszz'n sound you hear is the pump building pressure back up in the
fuel line and is normal. If it happens alot when the engine is hot, it
might be because the fuel in the carbs vaporizes faster and then the
fuel level drops which opens the fuel inlet to the carb bowl, You might
also have a tiny leak at your carbs allowing the gas to escape and
causing this condition.
To re-install an original pump is a little bit of work but you shouldn't
need any "gismo" (wasn't he the star of the movie Gremlins?). The pump
drives right off of the camshaft and no extra parts are needed. If you
can find one for an early Series with a manual pump handle built in, it
will come in handy when the car has been sitting for a while. This will
aviod cranking your engine to put gas in the carbs.
If they only had somthing like that for the engine oil pump....
