Series I,II and III used a Jeager mechanical tach. IV and V used the
smiths electronic tach.

There is no reason why you cant use the electronic tach on the SI,
just wire per SV schematic.
There are plenty of reasons why you cant use the mechanical tach
with the V6, I am not going to go there.

There is probably enough adjustment in the calibration pot to use
the 4 cyl tach with the 6, otherwise it will just be a change of
resistor
to centralize the pot "Looks like R3 or R5 will both work as will
increasing
C2 to .33 µf".
